Why Fishing Should Be Given More Visibility As A Sport

Fishing, The Therapy of Nature.

Imagine you had the opportunity to do something fun while getting the benefit of therapy from it. This is the benefit of fishing. Fishing is more than just a way to catch fish, but a way to reconnect with life in its simplest form. Out on the water, time slows down. Whether it’s a quiet morning on the lake or a sunny afternoon by the river, nature wraps around you like a warm blanket. The sounds of the birds, the smell of the water, the feel of the breeze — they all pull you into the moment. And that presence, that mindfulness, is something our souls crave. The therapy we get when fishing in a serene environment cleanses our stressed minds, taking us a step back from everyday life. Not only that, but the resilience fishing teaches us when you’re not catching fish or having problems with your rod or gear, makes us develop more grit. So why keep fishing as a hobby when you can make it a sport, bring it to schools and communities to cleanse more stressed-out minds, while giving kids a chance to have fun and develop resilience. Every day, kids struggle with school life and all the challenges it brings. If fishing is given more visibility as a sport, more kids would have the chance to reduce stress, spend time outdoors and learn grit and resilience.
